The business was launched in 2004. It established its in-house technology platform in 2006 and subsequently launched and acquired a range of retail sites entering entertainment in 2009, fashion in 2009, gifting and health & beauty in 2010 and sports nutrition in 2011.
This expansion was supported by an institutional private placement in April 2010. In 2009 The Hut Group was the winner of The Sunday Times Techtrack 100 of the UK’s fastest growing companies.
Unique Technology Platform
The Hut Group owns its best in class, end-to-end technology platform supporting its multiple websites.
All support functions are performed in-house including eCRM, website design, supply chain management, multi-channel marketing, fulfilment and customer care.
Approximately 35% of current sales are international.
The technology platform is fully internationalised (multi-currency and multi-lingual) with zavvi.com launched in Spain and Netherlands in 2010.
Products span health and beauty, gifting, sports nutrition, fashion, handbags, footwear and entertainment.
The Group attracts more than 8 million visits per month, has more than 6 million unique users and expects to ship more than 4.5 million orders in 2011.
